ECP Issues Schedule for 2024 General Elections

ISLAMABAD:  The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday  issued guidelines for candidates submitting nomination papers. Nomination papers can be submitted between December 20 and 22, with a fixed fee of Rs.100.

Candidates can submit up to five nomination papers, each with different endorsers. The National Assembly seat candidate fee is Rs.30,000 (non-refundable), while the Provincial Assembly seat candidate fee is Rs.20,000 (non-refundable).

Candidates must attach income tax return documents from the last three years. Basic qualifications include Pakistani citizenship and a minimum age of 25.

National Assembly contestants must be voters anywhere in Pakistan, while Provincial Assembly candidates must be voters in the respective province. A complete copy of the passport and the nomination fee must be submitted to the Returning Officer (RO) or through a Bank Draft.

Candidates for reserved National Assembly women’s seats must be voters in their respective provinces. Non-compliance with Articles 62 and 63 will result in disqualification. Proposers for general seats must be voters in the concerned constituency.

For women and non-Muslim seats in the National and Provincial Assembly, proposers and seconders must be voters in the respective province, while nominators and supporters for non-Muslim Assembly seats can be voters from any part of Pakistan.
