General Sahir Shamshad Mirza Bids Farewell With Powerful Message On National Defence has become a top-trending defence headline as Pakistan’s outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) delivered a strong and patriotic message before retirement. General Mirza, who completes 40 years of distinguished military service, retires on November 27 and will be the last CJCSC under the new constitutional changes.
A special ceremony took place at Joint Staff Headquarters, where senior military leaders and former CJCSCs gathered to honour General Mirza’s extraordinary service. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the ceremony reflected deep respect for his leadership and commitment to Pakistan’s security.
In his address, General Mirza thanked Allah Almighty for granting him the strength to serve the nation with dedication, professionalism, and unwavering devotion.
Strong Message On Pakistan’s Defence
General Mirza said that strong national defence remains a vital pillar of national security in today’s complex geo strategic environment. He paid glowing tributes to Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their unmatched sacrifices and honoured the martyrs and their families for their courage and resilience.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s defence remains impregnable and stated that its valiant officers and soldiers stand ready to make it even stronger.
Upon his arrival, a smartly turned out tri services contingent presented a Guard of Honour to General Mirza. The moment captured the respect he has earned across all branches of the military.

Earlier, he paid a farewell visit to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters. The field marshal praised General Mirza’s strategic foresight, leadership, and lifelong service to the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Gen Mirza will be the last officer to hold the position of CJCSC. After his retirement, the post will cease to exist under the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will take on the newly created role of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), marking a major structural shift in Pakistan’s defence leadership.
