TOKYO: The United Nations official, Filippo Grandi, expressed concerns that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas could further strain already limited humanitarian resources in various parts of the world.
Grandi, who serves as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, highlighted the potential for the war to extend beyond Israel and Gaza, putting additional pressure on neighboring countries like Lebanon and Egypt, which are already grappling with refugee crises.
Addressing the Japan National Press Club, Grandi emphasized that humanitarian resources are not limitless. The fear is that more crises, stemming from the Israel-Hamas conflict, could result in fewer resources available for everyone involved. The toll from an Israeli West Bank raid has already risen to 13, according to the Palestinian ministry.
