Punjab is set to welcome a major technology breakthrough as a Google Chromebook Factory Coming to Punjab with Maryam Nawaz’s Full Support, marking a transformative milestone for the province’s education and tech ecosystem. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has assured complete backing for the project, reflecting her commitment to empowering youth through technological advancement.

A top-tier delegation from Google for Education and Tech Valley briefed Maryam Nawaz on the manufacturing plan, which aims to increase access to modern learning tools across Punjab. The upcoming Chromebooks will come equipped with powerful learning features including an AI toolkit featuring “AI Gemini” for students, Google’s “Read Along” application to boost English learning, and “Canva” to encourage creativity and design skills.

The delegation was chaired by Kevin Callis, Global Director of Google for Education, alongside Tech Valley’s Chief Information Officer, Omar Farooq. They applauded the Chief Minister’s forward-looking approach, particularly her focus on expanding IT education opportunities for girls in public schools.

Google for Education officials also revealed that they have already provided advanced IT training to over 2,000 teachers in government schools, with plans to significantly expand the initiative. Students will also receive dedicated IT education, enabling them to integrate digital literacy and artificial intelligence into early learning.

Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude to Google for Education for supporting Punjab’s mission to become a leading hub of artificial intelligence and innovation. She emphasized that the provincial government stands ready to facilitate the successful establishment of the Chromebook manufacturing facility, which will not only boost education but also generate employment and strengthen Pakistan’s tech industry.
