Petrol and Diesel Prices Cut by Rs22 Per Litre in Pakistan

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a major reduction in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, giving relief to the public ahead of Eid.

According to an official statement, the prices of both petrol and high-speed diesel have been reduced by Rs22 per litre.

After the reduction, the new price of petrol will be Rs381.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be available at Rs380.78 per litre.

The new prices will come into effect from 12 midnight and will remain applicable for the next one week.

Government Calls It Eid Relief for Public

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the government has continued to provide relief to the public despite difficult economic conditions.

The statement said petroleum product prices were also reduced last week.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had promised the nation that relief would be passed on to the people whenever fiscal space became available.

The government said this promise has now been fulfilled.

PM Says Public Relief Is Top Priority

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said providing relief to the people is among the government’s top priorities.

The statement added that timely measures by the Prime Minister helped ensure the availability of petrol and diesel for the public.

It said the world was facing a severe oil crisis, but the government controlled the increase in fuel prices by providing a subsidy of more than Rs130.

Subsidy Provided on Petrol and Diesel

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the government also provided relief to the public through subsidies on petrol.

The statement said subsidies were given to public transport, goods transport, motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers to reduce the burden of fuel costs.

The government said these steps were taken to support ordinary citizens and transport workers during challenging economic conditions.

New Prices Effective for One Week

The revised fuel prices will remain in place for one week after taking effect at midnight.

The government said it will continue to review petroleum prices in line with international market trends and domestic economic conditions.

Officials said the reduction in fuel prices is part of the government’s broader effort to ease pressure on the public.
