ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz says the government is committed to strengthen democratic values and promote human rights.
He said this while talking to a three-member delegation of European Parliament in Islamabad.
He said the government is also focusing on improving the economic wellbeing of the people and protection of their fundamental rights.
Sartaj Aziz said an independent judiciary, free media and a vibrant civil society provide additional safeguards for protection of human rights.
He briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s National Action Plan, efforts against terrorism and extremism and the success of the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The European delegation appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting human and minority rights, as well as preventing the misuse of blasphemy laws.
