Govt forms committee for investigation into controversial news item


ISLAMABAD: The federal government has constituted a committee for investigation into the controversial news which has been considered a serious breach of national security.
The inquiry committee comprises officials of Inter-Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence. It has been tasked to include five persons in the investigation and determine interest of the news.
Earlier, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed resigned today from his position. He is the biggest causality of the controversial news story published in a local leading daily newspaper so far.
According to a notification issued by the government, the federal minister was directed to leave his post to hold a candid investigation.

The government notification said the controversial news is a breach of national security and according to the available evidences Pervaiz Rasheed was negligent in this incident.
Sources said the inquiry committee would hold investigation with five persons in the first phase including Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Fawad Hasan Fawad, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry, Chairman Pakistan Electronics Media Regulatory Authority Absar Alam, Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah and Pervaiz Rasheed.
The sources said the decision of sacking Pervaiz Rasheed was taken in a meeting with the Army chief last night. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and other key members of the government.
