ISLAMABAD: Government and security sources have reacted strongly to Akhtar Mengal’s recent media statements, accusing him of exaggerating the situation. According to the sources, Mengal has been freely moving around and speaking to the media, despite his claims of oppression and mistreatment against his party, BNP Mengal.
The BNP Mengal party holds three seats in total: Akhtar Mengal as a National Assembly member, and two senators, Naseema Ehsan and Qasim Ronjhu. The sources clarified that Senator Naseema Ehsan was present in the Parliament Lodges and actively participated in a Senate session just two days ago. Similarly, Senator Qasim Ronjhu is at home, and his son recently confirmed his well-being through a post on social media.
Government and security sources expressed surprise at Mengal’s narrative, calling on him to emphasize democratic practices such as consultation instead of trying to create a media-fueled narrative of oppression. They reiterated that Mengal and his colleagues are not under any undue restrictions or suffering from the alleged mistreatment he claims.
This response comes as the political climate remains tense, with Mengal’s party continuing to voice its concerns over the treatment of its members and broader political issues in Balochistan. The government and security establishment, however, refute these claims, urging Mengal to engage in constructive political dialogue rather than escalating tensions through public misrepresentation.
