LAHORE: Professional Layers Group head and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Hamid Khan, called for a judicial commission to probe the concerns raised by six judges of the high judiciary in their letter to the chief justice.
Addressing the media at the Lahore High Court Bar Association office, Khan emphasized the significance of the issue, stating that the Bar must actively engage in its resolution.
Praising the judges for their courage, Khan stressed the importance of devising a collective strategy to address the raised issues. He highlighted the controversy surrounding the role of the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court and criticized the lack of action taken despite the judges’ notification of the matter.
Khan urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to establish a judicial commission to investigate the concerns raised, emphasizing the accountability of both chief justices to the public. He emphasized the responsibility of bar associations to unite and mobilize, urging the president of the Lahore Bar to take a proactive stance.
The letter penned by six judges of the Islamabad High Court to the Supreme Judicial Council, highlighting alleged interference by intelligence agencies in judicial affairs, was cited as the catalyst for Khan’s call to action.
