The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has raised concerns about a potential dengue outbreak following recent rainfall and floods in the region.
In response to these concerns, the provincial health department has devised a comprehensive action plan for dengue prevention, which has been submitted to the chief secretary for approval. Additionally, directives have been issued to establish a dedicated dengue control room within the Directorate General of Health Services.
Key components of the action plan include timely elimination of dengue larvae and the allocation of 1,240 beds in government hospitals for dengue patients. Specifically, 300 beds will be earmarked for dengue patients in Peshawar’s government hospitals, with separate wards designated for them in MTI Hospital.
Furthermore, a dedicated dengue control room will be set up within the Directorate General of Health Services, and collaboration will be sought from the Local Government Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to effectively combat the spread of dengue.
