PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert warning of heavy rain and further snowfall in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from Sunday night, as a new spell of western weather system is expected to enter the province.
According to the PDMA, the weather system will remain active from January 25 to 27, bringing heavy rain and snowfall to upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla and Kohistan.
The authority said that intense snowfall and a sharp drop in temperatures are likely in higher elevations, while rain accompanied by thunder is expected in Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera and Kohat.
Officials warned that roads in Naran, Kaghan, Kalam and Chitral may remain blocked or slippery, increasing the risk of travel disruptions. There is also a threat of landslides and avalanches in upper districts during the forecast period.
The PDMA has directed all district administrations to remain on high alert and take pre-emptive measures to avoid emergencies and ensure public safety.
