ISLAMABAD: A high-powered steering committee has been formed to oversee reforms and automation within the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), mandated to collect taxes in the country.
Led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the 10-member steering committee has been formally notified, with key members including federal ministers of Finance, Commerce, Industry and Production, as well as Law.
Moreover, secretaries from the Finance, Industry and Production, Revenue, and Trade and Investment Board will participate in the committee. The Finance Division will serve as the Secretariat.
The primary objective of the committee is to monitor the implementation of approved reform plans within the FBR, with a focus on facilitating comprehensive reforms and automation.
