WANA: At least four people were killed in a bomb explosion near a hospital in South Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday. The blast occurred near City Hospital on Karikot Road in Wana, the main town of South Waziristan.
According to initial information from hospital authorities, four people died in the explosion. The explosive device was reportedly planted on a motorcycle and targeted the vehicle of Taliban commander Ainullah, who escaped unhurt.
Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, condemned the attack, expressing sorrow over the loss of lives. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a statement, Governor Kundi said, “Those who target innocent people are the enemies of humanity.”
In a separate incident on Wednesday, an explosion at the Jamshoro police station injured five policemen and a suspect in custody. The blast caused a large part of the station to collapse. Police officers believe the high temperature may have caused a blast in the hand grenades stored in the station’s maal khana [depository]. An inquiry has been initiated to determine the actual cause of the explosion.
The injured include ASIs Muhammad Bux Dawach and Rasool Bux Narejo, head constable Abdul Lateef Panhwar, constables Ghulam Muhammad and Irshad Ali, and an arrested suspect, Jamshed Sanjrani. All were transferred to Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad.
