The Islamabad High Court has disposed of the petition against the harassment of Baloch protesters and ordered to provide facilities to them.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, presiding over the Islamabad High Court, concluded the application with specific directives. The court mandated security provision for Baloch protesters advocating for the recovery of missing individuals.
Expressing dissatisfaction, the court rebuked the advocate general for attempting to discuss the Pakistan-Iran dispute. “I would like to present a USB device containing the press conference of Mahrang Baloch,” stated the Advocate General.
Justice Kayani responded, stating that press conferences were a daily occurrence, and he neither desired nor would accept any USB. Emphasizing that the Baloch were already protesting in the city, he conveyed to the authorities that it was their responsibility to resolve the matter rather than the court’s. “So far, their problems have not been solved even in Balochistan,” added Justice Kayani.
The judge requested details of cases registered against the Baloch in Turbat or elsewhere, instructing the petitioner’s lawyers to submit them.
The advocate general informed the court that the Baloch protesters lacked permission for their demonstrations. “We are not taking action against the protesters due to the court’s interim relief,” he added, mentioning the government’s desire for the Baloch protesters to return home.
The court then issued orders to furnish details of cases against the Baloch protesters within seven days. It concluded the petition of the Baloch protesters with specific directions. Representing the petitioners, lawyers Imaan Mazari, Ataullah Kundi, and others appeared before the court. On behalf of the district administration, Advocate General Ayaz Shaukat and state counsel Abdul Rahman presented themselves in court.
