ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court dealt a blow to former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday, rejecting his plea for an immediate halt to the cypher case trial. Justice Miangul Hasan Augranzeb presided over the hearing, during which Khan’s counsel raised concerns about the legal process for the jail trial.
The court, however, was unmoved, emphasizing the importance of an open court for the trial. Despite Khan’s request to stop the proceedings promptly, Justice Miangul Hasan Augranzeb dismissed the plea, issuing a notice for December 20 to address any injunction requests.
The court’s stance remained firm, asserting that while the judge could opt for a jail trial, the preference was for transparency through an open court setting. The legal drama surrounding the cypher case continues, with the Islamabad High Court playing a pivotal role in the proceedings.
