ISLAMABAD: Another letter has emerged from the Islamabad High Court, calling attention towards a growing trend of malicious campaigns against the judiciary.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has penned a letter to the Chief Justice of the IHC, urging swift action to initiate contempt of court proceedings against those involved in what appears to be a smear campaign.
This development comes on the heels of a similar communication sent by Justice Babar Sattar to the IHC Chief Justice just the day prior, indicating a unified effort among judges to address what they perceive as an assault on the integrity and authority of the judiciary.
Sources within the judiciary reveal that Justice Kayani stressed the importance of promptly addressing individuals responsible for spreading misinformation or engaging in activities considered contemptuous toward the court.
Earlier this week, in response to Justice Sattar’s communication, the high court made a significant decision regarding the social media campaign against him. The court announced its intent to commence contempt of court proceedings against those allegedly orchestrating a malicious campaign against Justice Sattar.
Reports suggest that Justice Sattar had initially reached out to IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq regarding the social media onslaught against him. Consequently, the court opted to elevate the matter from a mere correspondence to a formal contempt of court case.
