ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has mandated the establishment of a medical board to conduct a health check-up for Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), currently held at Adiala Jail.
This directive was issued by Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb. The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Executive Director has been tasked with forming the board, which will include Dr. Faisal Sultan, Imran Khan’s personal physician.
Additionally, lawyers have been granted permission to meet with Imran Khan.
Once the medical board is formed, the PIMS Executive Director must report back to the IHC registrar’s office. The IHC emphasized that a copy of the order should also be delivered to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail for prompt execution.
Imran Khan, aged 72 and an under-trial prisoner, had previously requested a medical examination from his personal doctors. The IHC acknowledged that the security protocols at Adiala Jail should not obstruct qualified medical professionals from conducting check-ups on B-class prisoners.
