ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday rejected the FIA’s appeal against bail of the PTI chairman Imran Khan in prohibited funding case.
Justice Mohsen Akhtar Kayani and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri announced the preserved verdict in FIA’s plea for suspension of the bail of PTI chief Imran Khan. The court also rejected the FIA’s plea to revoke the bail of co-accused Tariq Shafi.
The FIA had filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court on February 28 against the approval of Imran Khan’s bail. The petition stated that the Special Court’s decision was against the law. The banking court’s decision to declare Imran Khan’s bail void should be implemented.
Justice Mohsen Akhtar Kayani and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the petition. FIA’s Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi took the position that Imran Khan has not yet been investigated.
Justice Mohsen Akhtar Kayani said that the allegations in the FIR are against Arif Naqvi. Imran Khan or the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are the ones who received the money.
The FIA lawyer stated that Imran Khan said in an interview that these are charity funds, but they were used for political purposes.
