IHC Sets October 7 Hearing on Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Acquittal Pleas in Toshakhana II Case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed October 7 for the hearing of acquittal petitions filed by PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana II case. Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas will preside over the proceedings, which are being seen as a critical juncture in a case that has lingered in the spotlight for months.

The petitions, originally filed in January, not only seek the acquittal of the petitioners but also request the court to halt ongoing trial proceedings linked to the Toshakhana II case. Both Khan and Bushra Bibi face allegations of illegally retaining and selling Toshakhana gifts, a controversy that has repeatedly landed them before the courts.

Toshakhana II Trial Continues Inside Adiala Jail

While the IHC prepares to take up the acquittal pleas, the main Toshakhana II trial continues inside Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand is leading the trial proceedings, where both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are being presented regularly.

Yesterday’s hearing centered on the cross-examination of NAB officer Mohsin Haroon, a key prosecution witness. Defense lawyer Arshad Tabrez, representing Bushra Bibi, began questioning Haroon’s testimony but only completed part of the process. The cross-examination is set to resume today.

Representing the prosecution, FIA Special Prosecutors Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majeed Malik were present during the proceedings, while defense lawyers Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry and Usman Gul also appeared for the petitioners.

Family and PTI Leaders Attend Court Sessions

The courtroom atmosphere has remained charged, with Imran Khan’s three sisters, alongside Bushra Bibi’s daughter and sister-in-law, attending the hearings. Senior PTI leaders including Senator Ali Zafar, Mashal Yousafzai, and Barrister Saif were also seen at the Adiala Jail courtroom, showing support for the party founder and his wife.

Broader Legal Battles

The Toshakhana II case is not the only legal challenge confronting the couple. The IHC is also set to hear appeals by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against their conviction in the £190 million case, adding further weight to their mounting court schedule.
