ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly reconvened on Friday at the Parliment House, commencing with the recitation of Holy Quran verses by esteemed guest Imam Masjid Al-Nabawi Dr. Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presided over the session, which was also attended by the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malki.
Speaker Sadiq warmly welcomed the Imam, acknowledging his presence as a source of pride and spiritual guidance. He highlighted the significance of Masjid Al-Nabawi, revered by Muslims worldwide. Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also extended warm welcomes to the Imam. Leader of the opposition Omar Ayub praised the Imam’s distinction of leading global Muslim prayers and commended the Saudi government’s excellent arrangements at holy sites. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted that the Imam’s visit would strengthen Pakistan-Saudi relations,
acknowledging Saudi Arabia’s friendship and leadership in the Islamic world. MQM’s Mustafa Kamal appreciated Saudi Arabia’s consistent support for Pakistan and its exceptional Hajj arrangements.
Later Imam led the Friday prayer at Islamabad’s historic Faisal Mosque.
