RAWALPINDI: Former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, announced on Friday that his party will participate in the upcoming all-parties conference (APC). The government is expected to brief political parties on Operation Azm-e-Istehkam during the conference.
“My party will participate in the all-parties conference and hear what the government has to say,” Khan stated to reporters while attending a case at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, where he is currently imprisoned.
Khan expressed concerns over the new anti-terrorism initiative, stating that his party believes it will “only lead to further instability” in the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that several party leaders, in response to the news that Prime Minister will convene all-parties conference, hinted that PTI will not attend the APC as protest of government continuous illegal actions against party leaders and workers.
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will convene an all-parties conference (APC) to garner support for the newly launched “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam,” which aims to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.
The schedule for the APC will be finalized in next week.
Local media reports indicate that the APC aims to achieve consensus among political parties regarding “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.” The federal government plans to engage all political stakeholders before formally commencing the operation.
The APC is likely to be held in the last week of July.
