ISLAMABAD: The district and sessions court in Islamabad have set January 10 date for the formal indictment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the controversial illegal Nikah case.
Civil Judge Qudratullah issued a written order on Thursday confirming the scheduled date, directing the jail superintendent to ensure execution while considering the logistics of accommodating lawyers and media representatives.
In anticipation of the proceedings, the Adiala Jail superintendent is tasked with determining the number of attendees during the indictment. The court order emphasizes the provision of all case-related documents to the accused, with charges officially filed on January 10, 2024.
The case revolves around Khawar Maneka, Bibi’s former husband, who claims the marriage violates Sharia laws. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi face allegations of marrying within the three-month “iddat period” post-divorce, with additional accusations of fornication. As the legal drama unfolds, all eyes are on the impending courtroom confrontation.
