ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has granted an extension to the interim bails of Imran Khan, the founder chairman of PTI, and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case.
During the hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra considered six bail pleas from the former PTI chief and one from the former first lady. Imran Khan’s interim bail was prolonged until December 19, while Bushra Bibi’s was extended until January 2, 2024.
Accompanied by her legal team, Bushra Bibi attended the court session, with Imran Khan being represented by Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry.
Chaudhry informed the court that the Anti-Terrorism Court had granted bail to Khan, prompting the judge to inquire about the basis for the bail. Chaudhry clarified that Imran Khan was not present at the scene, alleging deliberate avoidance of his client’s court appearance and requesting his presentation.
Judge Sipra commented on the tradition of setting up a court wherever Imran Khan is, and the lawyer highlighted that it was a pre-arrest bail petition requiring the suspect’s presence. The judge decided to seek a report and deferred further proceedings until the next hearing on December 19.
