Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced the nomination of former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur as the PTI candidate for the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Despite being incarcerated in Adiala jail on various charges, Khan confidently declared, “KP’s chief minister will be Ali Amin Gandapur,” emphasizing PTI’s strong position with 84 seats in the KP Assembly.
Having secured 90 seats in the National Assembly, PTI is set to lead the government, outpacing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 75 seats.
Khan dismissed the idea of forming a coalition government with PML-N, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), alleging them to be “the biggest money launderers.”
Expressing confidence in the economic stability brought by the February 8 general elections, Khan directed his party leaders to engage in talks with other parties, excluding PML-N, PPP, and MQM-P.
He attributed his early election victory realization to Nawaz Sharif’s postponed press conference and claimed that PTI leader Aliya Hamza received over 100,000 votes while in jail.
While stating that the PTI would challenge election results and approach the Supreme Court, Khan refrained from revealing a name for the prime minister’s post.
Additionally, he addressed the ongoing legal proceedings concerning his wife Bushra Bibi’s imprisonment, emphasizing the court’s consideration of a petition for her transfer to Adiala jail following convictions in the Toshakhana and illegal marriage cases.
