ISLAMABAD: Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, responded to a press conference held by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR). The DG ISPR had claimed neutrality and non-political stance, to which Khan expressed skepticism.
In a recent informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail, where he is currently detained, Imran Khan suggested that if the ISPR has genuinely become non-political, it would be beneficial for the country. However, he questioned their claim of already being non-political, calling it a significant misrepresentation. He highlighted the presence of military officials like Major, Colonel, and ISI agents in the jail as evidence against the ISPR’s neutrality.
He urged the ISPR to genuinely adopt an apolitical stance through actions, not just words. Khan also alleged that the events of May 9 were orchestrated to undermine his party and demanded the release of CCTV footage from that day.
Khan accused General Faiz of threatening him, alleging that Faiz previously met with General Bajwa’s permission and reported to him. He criticized the trial of Faiz as unjust, claiming that without General Bajwa, the trial lacks legitimacy. He also implied that General Qamar Javed Bajwa is being sidelined to protect secrets about the regime change.
Stating that he is not merely engaged in politics but a form of jihad, Khan asserted he will not leave the country. He lamented that while those in power have their assets abroad, people like him, who have invested everything in Pakistan, are left to suffer as the nation heads towards disaster.
Khan also criticized the current rulers for enacting self-serving legislation, sarcastically referring to it as “NRO 2,” a nod to the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance.
Regarding the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, Khan defended him despite internal criticism within the party. He urged support for Gandapur and warned that those seeking PTI tickets through monetary investment or plots would not succeed.
