Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, along with former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed and Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, has been summoned in the May 9 violence case.
Witnesses, including PTI candidate Ajmal Sabir from NA-53, Sadaqat Abbasi, Wasiq Qayyum, and Umar Tanveer Butt, have implicated Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed in the May 9 riots. Asserting that the violence was carried out based on their directives.

Ajmal Sabir, backed by PTI in NA-53, provided a statement revealing that Sheikh Rasheed orchestrated a meeting at his residence, Lal Haveli, on May 6, planning the events that unfolded on May 9.
Earlier, former interior minister Sheikh Rashid was arrested after the cancellation of bail in connection with the May 9 riots case. Where he is accused of plotting vandalism and an attack on a sensitive installation following the arrest of the former prime minister.
The May 9, 2023, protests, triggered by the arrest of Imran Khan, led to violent clashes across Pakistan, with party workers expressing agitation.
Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad witnessed protests, prompting the summoning of armed forces to maintain law and order.
Notably, Imran Khan is named as the main accused in all the May 9 riots cases, adding a layer of complexity to the unfolding legal proceedings.
