ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday said that PTI founder Imran Khan will be transferred to Islamabad jail once the facility is completed within the next two months.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Naqvi said the new jail would have full medical facilities and added that since Imran Khan was convicted by an Islamabad court, he would be moved to a prison in the federal capital after its completion.
The minister’s statement comes amid ongoing concerns raised by PTI leaders about the former prime minister’s health during his incarceration at Adiala Jail. Party officials have previously alleged negligence by former jail superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, claims that authorities have not endorsed.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said Imran Khan would be allowed to undergo an eye examination by any doctor of his choice. He rejected reports of four months of medical negligence and urged that the former premier’s health should not be politicized.
The development signals a possible change in Imran Khan’s place of detention, with the government stressing that medical care and legal requirements will be fulfilled once the Islamabad jail becomes operational.
