ISLAMABAD: Former PTI Chairman and prime minister Imran Khan will contest elections from three constituencies in the 2024 general elections.

He said that preventing anyone from submitting nomination papers goes against democratic principles. Barrister Ali Zafar outlined the party’s strategy, instructing party workers to swiftly file their nomination papers. Notably, priority will be given to PTI leaders currently in custody when selecting candidates.
Chairman PTI, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, reiterated the party’s commitment to holding elections on February 8, underscoring their determination. He assured that the party will soon finalize the allocation of party tickets.
The Election Commission of Pakistan, the country’s top electoral body, began receiving nomination papers on Wednesday, with the deadline set for Friday. As per the Election Commission’s notification, the initial list of candidates will be published on December 23, followed by scrutiny of nomination papers from December 24 to 30.
The deadline for filing appeals against decisions made by returning officers is January 3, with appellate tribunals expected to announce their verdicts by January 10. The revised list of candidates will be published on January 11, and the last date for withdrawing candidature is January 12.
It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan had contested on nine NA seats in October 2022 by elections and had won seven of the National Assembly seats in Mardan, Charsadda, Faisalabad, Karachi, Kurram, Nankana Sahib and Peshawar.
In 2018 general elections, Imran Khan had contested on four National Assembly seats that include Miawali NA-35, Islamabad (NA-53), Bannu (NA-35), Karachi (NA-243), and Lahore (NA-131).
