Independent MPA-elect from PK-107 Shafiq Afridi joins PTI


ISLAMABAD: Shafiq Afridi, who was elected as independent member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in recent bye-election from PK-107 Khyber, Thursday joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Afridi announced the decision to join the PTI during a meeting with senior PTI leader Jahangir Tareen in Islamabad. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Mehmood Khan and governor Shah Farman were also present on this occasion.
The PTI has started contacts with recently elected independent candidates for joining the PTI.
As per unofficial results published by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), independent candidates had won six, PTI five while, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) grabbed three seats, Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) clinched one seat each.
