India-Backed Terrorists Killed in Bannu Operation, Major Attack Foiled

India-backed terrorists

India-backed terrorists were killed in a targeted operation in Bannu, where security forces acted on intelligence to prevent a major attack. The swift action highlights growing concerns over cross-border militancy and ongoing security challenges.

According to the military, the operation took place on April 19 after reports of militant presence in the area. Troops moved in and engaged the suspects. After a fierce exchange of fire, two India-backed terrorists were killed, including a key ring leader identified as Waheedullah alias Muktiar. A suicide bomber was also among those neutralised.

Security officials recovered a suicide jacket, along with weapons and ammunition, from the site. The presence of these items suggests the attackers were planning a major strike.

Authorities said the killed militant had been involved in several attacks on security personnel and civilians. He was also linked to a deadly incident earlier this year in Bannu, where a senior officer lost his life in a suicide attack.

Officials described the operation as a major success. They said it not only brought a key militant figure to justice but also prevented a possible large-scale tragedy.

A clearance operation is still underway in the area to ensure no other India-backed terrorists are hiding nearby. Security forces remain on high alert and continue to track any remaining threats.

Pakistan has seen a rise in militant attacks in recent years, especially in border regions. Officials say these incidents have increased since changes in Afghanistan’s political landscape in 2021.

In response, the country has stepped up its counterterrorism efforts under ongoing campaigns. Authorities say operations will continue until all networks linked to India-backed terrorists are dismantled and peace is restored.
