Punjab’s top police official, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered tighter security across the province. The move comes as the country faces a tense and uncertain situation. All cities, including Lahore, are now under high alert.
In a statement released Thursday, the Inspector General of Police confirmed the Punjab Police is fully prepared. He said all operational, strategic, and logistical systems are in place. “Our force is ready for any emergency,” he added. “We will protect public safety and respond quickly to any threat.”
Dr. Anwar also stressed that police are working closely with Civil Defense, Rescue 1122, and local administration. The goal is to maintain law and order and offer relief if needed. Security has been beefed up at sensitive spots, especially at border checkpoints and inter-provincial police posts.
This strong response follows a serious security breach. An Indian spy drone was brought down in Lahore’s Walton area early Thursday. It caused widespread panic in the city.
Loud blasts were heard on Walton Road, especially in Gopal Nagar and Naseerabad. The noise came from near Walton Airport. Frightened residents ran outside their homes. Many saw thick smoke rising in the area.
According to police sources, the Indian drone was spotted flying close to important buildings. It measured about 5 to 6 feet and had entered from across the border. The drone was reportedly loaded with explosives. Security forces disabled it using signal jamming technology.
Officials believe the drone was sent to monitor sensitive locations. They say the timing and flight path show it was part of a planned surveillance mission. The fact that it reached so close to its target has raised serious concerns.
Punjab Police has now increased patrolling and surveillance. Special attention is being given to possible cross-border threats. Authorities say any future violation by spy aircraft will meet a strong and immediate response.
