Humayun Akhtar Khan, a former federal minister and current leader of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), took a significant step in his political career on Wednesday by formally submitting his nomination papers for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Visiting the return officer’s office in person, accompanied by his supporters, Humayun filed his nomination papers for NA 97 (Faisalabad-III).
The ongoing process of acquiring and submitting nomination papers for candidates aspiring to contest national and provincial assembly seats in the impending general elections began today and will continue until Friday, December 22.
Addressing the media after completing the paperwork, Humayun expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of Tandlianwala’s youth, particularly their frustration with unemployment.
He outlined his electoral promises, emphasizing plans to generate employment opportunities and ensure that every village has a dispensary. “I will serve the people,” he declared with conviction.
Humayun Akhtar Khan recently aligned himself with the Jahangir Tareen-led IPP, making this move just over six months after parting ways with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
His dissatisfaction with the handling of the aftermath of the May 9 riots was cited as the primary reason for his departure from PTI.
During a press conference alongside IPP’s top leadership, he reflected on his longstanding association with the party, stating, “I have spent a significant amount of time with my IPP friends, and once again, a higher power has united us.”
