TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran does not seek war and instead wants a permanent resolution to ongoing conflicts in the region.
Speaking to the media, Araghchi said Tehran is also demanding compensation for the destruction caused in the region. He added that stability can only be achieved through long-term solutions.
He revealed that the United States has been sending messages to Iran through different intermediaries. However, he clarified that these exchanges should not be seen as direct negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Araghchi said that Iran’s top leadership is reviewing the proposals shared by the US. However, he made it clear that Tehran currently has no intention of holding direct talks with Washington.
The foreign minister also criticised the US role in the region. He said that despite maintaining several military bases, the US has failed to ensure effective security for regional countries.
He urged Gulf nations to stay away from US influence and adopt independent policies. According to him, such an approach is necessary to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
