Iran refuses talks under pressure and has made its position clear amid rising tensions with the United States. Senior Iranian leaders say negotiations cannot move forward if threats and coercion continue.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf strongly criticized Donald Trump, accusing him of turning diplomacy into what he called a “surrender table.” He said recent US actions, including pressure tactics and military signals, show a serious miscalculation. According to him, such moves will not force Iran into submission.
He added that Iran has increased its readiness in recent weeks and is prepared to respond if needed. He stressed that pressure has never worked in diplomacy and will not work now either.
At the same time, Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh urged the United States to reduce its demands and respect Iran’s rights. He acknowledged past tensions but said diplomacy remains the only realistic path forward.
Iran refuses talks under pressure, and this stance was repeated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei. He said Washington is not showing genuine intent and warned that repeating past mistakes could lead to a strong response.
Speaking in Tehran, he said Iran does not trust the United States and will continue to protect its national interests. He also made it clear that there is no plan at this stage to join further negotiations. He described recent US proposals as unrealistic and dismissed claims about moving Iran’s nuclear material as baseless.
Iran refuses talks under pressure, and officials believe ongoing threats, ceasefire violations, and aggressive rhetoric are damaging any chance of progress. They say meaningful dialogue can only happen when both sides engage with respect and without conditions.
