Iran Warns Israel of Harsh Response Over Continued Attacks in Lebanon

Iran warns Israel that it could face a harsh response if military attacks in Lebanon continue, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating a truce linked to a recent understanding between Tehran and Washington.

The warning came after Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon reportedly killed at least four people in Nabatieh governorate. Lebanese media said separate drone attacks targeted vehicles in the towns of Mayfadoun and Shoukin despite an existing ceasefire.

Iranian officials claim Israel has violated the truce dozens of times since the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States was reached. Throughout negotiations with Washington, Tehran maintained that any ceasefire agreement must include an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

Although the full text of the agreement has not been released, Pakistan, which has played a mediation role in the conflict, said the deal called for an immediate halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Israel’s continued presence in southern Lebanon would undermine the agreement. He argued that the conflict cannot be considered fully over until Israeli forces withdraw from territories captured during the war.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters also warned that the Iranian armed forces could respond if attacks on southern Lebanon continue.

In a phone call with Nabih Berri, Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf urged the United States to pressure Israel to end military operations in Lebanon, stop home demolitions, and withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory.

Shortly after the US-Iran agreement was announced, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would continue to maintain its presence in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese group Hezbollah said it had received assurances from Iran that Tehran would seek an Israeli troop withdrawal during the next phase of talks with the United States.

Residents returning to Nabatieh expressed concern about the future, saying they remain uncertain about security and stability despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 3,826 people have been killed and 11,851 wounded since fighting resumed on March 2.
