Lahore: The Pakistan cricket team’s official kit launch for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup has reportedly been cancelled, raising fresh speculation over whether Pakistan will participate in the tournament or consider a boycott.
According to sources, the national team’s T20 World Cup kit was scheduled to be unveiled today after the toss of the second T20 match against Australia. However, the launch was called off due to “unavoidable reasons”.
Sources further claimed that uncertainty regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup could also be a possible reason behind the cancellation. A final decision on whether Pakistan will take part in the event is expected by Monday.
Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had stated that the final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup would be made either Friday or Monday.
It may be recalled that on January 26, Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister and PCB Patron-in-Chief Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad and sought guidance on the matter.
The ICC T20 World Cup is set to begin on February 7, and according to the schedule, Pakistan is expected to play all its matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
