Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to addressing pressing global challenges during his engagements at the United Nations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Dar met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of his visit to the United States. During the meeting, Dar emphasized strengthening the UN’s role in resolving disputes and advancing sustainable development worldwide.
In his talks, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored that peace must be promoted through dialogue and diplomacy. He raised the Kashmir issue, violations of the Indus Waters Treaty, and concerns over state-sponsored terrorism. Dar also called for immediate action to protect human rights and regional stability.
Highlighting Pakistan’s consistent stand on Palestine, Dar demanded an urgent ceasefire in Gaza and reaffirmed support for an independent Palestinian state. Guterres, in turn, commended Pakistan’s contributions and its active engagement in the UN Security Council.
Later, Ishaq Dar at United Nations met UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang for further discussions on shared priorities.
Separately, as Foreign Minister, Dar addressed the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to achieving the 2030 Agenda.
In his national statement, Dar outlined Pakistan’s efforts to drive inclusive economic growth, climate resilience, and comprehensive reforms. He said the government is tackling food insecurity and climate change through innovative programs. “Food crisis and climate change are among the most pressing challenges of our time,” he stressed.
Dar also introduced “Uraan Pakistan,” a national development project aimed at empowering youth and fostering innovation. The initiative reflects the country’s vision to promote sustainability and resilience while overcoming rising global threats.
The series of meetings and speeches underlined Ishaq Dar at United Nations as a key platform for promoting Pakistan’s foreign policy goals and development agenda.
