The Islamabad Accountability Court has once again postponed the verdict in the £190 million case involving the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Court staff informed PTI lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry that the decision will now be announced on January 13.
Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry confirmed the delay, stating, “The staff has confirmed that the verdict will not be announced today.” The delay occurred because Judge Nasir Javed Rana was on leave.
Earlier, the court held a hearing for the £190 million reference. However, it failed to deliver a verdict against the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. The court had initially planned to announce the decision on January 6 but later informed defense lawyers about the rescheduling.
The decision had been reserved on December 18 after the completion of arguments. Judge Nasir Javed Rana had assured that the verdict would be delivered today. However, the ruling has been delayed due to ongoing proceedings in the High Court and the judgment still being written.
During the hearing, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry reminded the court they were expecting the verdict. In response, the judge advised them to wait for a new date and check back in 10 minutes.
The court reserved its decision on the £190 million reference four days ago. This decision followed a trial that spanned one year. During the proceedings, the NAB recorded testimonies from 35 witnesses. The PTI founder’s lawyers cross-examined the witnesses before the arguments concluded on December 18.
Initially, the court intended to announce the verdict at Adiala Jail. However, the ruling has been delayed multiple times, with January 13 now set as the new date.
The case remains a critical development in Pakistan’s political and legal landscape.
