District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has granted release to Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with Senator Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, and Asad Umar in the vandalism case related to the long march.
As per details, Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Bhatti has approved the release plea.
The court ruled in favor of the applicants, stating that Imran Khan and others were unaware of the implementation of Section 144 in the area. It was highlighted that the Additional District Magistrate had not issued any notification regarding Section 144.
The court emphasized that the case against Imran Khan and others appeared to be politically motivated, serving as a form of retaliation.
However, the prosecutor argued that Imran Khan and others deliberately obstructed the GT road, causing inconvenience to the citizens.
Furthermore, the court pointed out that there was no evidence of the government’s notification imposing Section 144 at that time. Therefore, the police officer lacked the authority to file the case. Despite including 11 witnesses in the challan, none appeared in court to provide testimony.
