ISLAMABAD: Islamabad session court on Wednesday suspended the arrest warrant issued for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Javed.
During the court proceedings, which were presided over by Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah, Faisal Javed, accompanied by his counsel Sardar Masroof and others, appeared before the court. The session court halted the process to declare Faisal Javed an absconder and suspended the arrest warrant against him.
Additionally, the court scheduled Faisal Javed’s indictment for the upcoming hearing on March 13.
On February 19, Faisal Javed emerged from a period of concealment and obtained transit bail from the Peshawar High Court (PHC). This move came after months of evading authorities following the events of May 9, 2023, which saw attacks on military installations, including the prominent Corps Commander House Lahore, following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The PHC granted Faisal Javed transit bail against bonds worth Rs100,000 and instructed him to appear before the relevant court.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Faisal Javed expressed his satisfaction with the unprecedented voter turnout on Feb 8. He also expressed his relief at being granted bail, emphasizing the challenging times faced by all. He expressed hope for the safe return of all those who have faced oppression.
It’s noteworthy that several PTI leaders remain either in hiding or incarcerated following the events of May 9 and the subsequent government crackdown on the party.
