Islamabad High Court Orders Compensation for Missing Person's Father

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has instructed the federal government to pay Rs 3 million to the father of Haroon Muhammad, a missing person who disappeared from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 15 years ago.

The case was presided over by IHC’s Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, who ordered the federal government to compensate the father, instructing that this payment must be made before the next court session.

Additionally, the court directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General via the Home Secretary to ensure the compensation is provided.

During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel, Iman Zainab Mazari, highlighted that the applicant’s family had been receiving threats for pursuing the case. The court responded by ordering the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG to take immediate action to provide security to the petitioner’s family and to register a case against the security officials responsible for the threats.

The hearing has been adjourned for two weeks.
