ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi chaired a review meeting on Saturday to discuss the upgradation of, police stations.
He emphasized the need to transform traditional police stations, which have become synonymous with fear, into smart police stations that align with global standards.
Minister Naqvi highlighted his personal experience of visiting police stations and witnessing their deplorable conditions. He stressed that Islamabad, being the capital city, should showcase Pakistan’s commitment to modernization and excellence.
To achieve this, he directed the provision of necessary resources for upgrading police stations in phases. He emphasized the importance of deploying well-mannered, educated police officers and ensuring merit-based recruitment of young, fit, and educated individuals.
Additionally, Minister Naqvi instructed the identification of land for police stations currently operating in makeshift or rented buildings. He concluded by emphasizing the need for a positive shift in attitude towards complainants and ensuring a high-quality, cost-effective design for the upgradation.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and DIG Operations.
