ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has placed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Raoof Hasan on judicial remand for 14 days in a terrorism-related case. The decision came on Saturday, following Hasan’s arrest on July 31.
The arrest was based on allegations from PTI International Media Coordinator Ahmed Janjua, who claimed Hasan provided funds to incite terrorism.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra rejected the plea for a seven-day physical remand of Hasan. Hasan’s counsel, Ali Bukhari, who appeared in court, filed for post-arrest bail, prompting the court to issue notices for a hearing on August 6.
During the proceedings, Bukhari raised concerns about the previous hearing’s decision, arguing that details of Hasan’s bank accounts should be accessible online. Judge Supra advised Bukhari to challenge such decisions in the high court rather than the ATC. He also inquired whether Hasan’s call data, bank transfers, or meeting records had been reviewed.
In addition to the terrorism case, Hasan faces charges related to anti-state propaganda, although he has been granted bail in that case. Despite this, he remains in custody due to the ongoing remand in the terrorism case.
