In a letter to the Supreme Court’s Registrar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court, cited serious concerns over Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s approach to judicial independence and his alleged failure to foster harmony among judges.
Explaining his absence from the Full Court Reference, Justice Shah stated that while he previously declined to attend former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s reference due to perceived overreach, his current reasons are “more worrying.”
Justice Shah accused CJ Isa of “opening doors to interference” and criticized him for an “ostrich-like” response to pressures facing the judiciary.
Emphasizing the Chief Justice’s duty to uphold the judiciary’s independence and secure justice, Justice Shah has requested that his letter be officially noted in the Full Court Reference records.
