ISLAMABAD: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has sent another letter to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, announcing his decision to recuse himself from special or larger benches until the full court addresses the amendment ordinance case.
In his letter, dated October 23, Justice Mansoor referenced the benches formed by the committee established following the amendments to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023, which were enacted through a presidential ordinance in September 2024.
According to sources, the letter was directed to the Chief Justice as the head of the Practice and Procedure Committee. Justice Mansoor expressed concerns regarding the 26th constitutional amendment, which led to his supersession as chief justice. He stated, “I will not be a part of the special bench until the full court sits on the amendment ordinance.”
The letter also included a quote from Sir Thomas More, in which Justice Mansoor remarked, “We often forget, when in power, that the people of this country are watching our actions, and that history never forgives.”
