ISLAMABAD: Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, assumed the role of Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan in a swearing-in ceremony held at the Supreme Court. Senior Judge Justice Ejazul Hassan administered the oath of office and the event was attended by fellow judges and lawyers.
President Dr. Arif Alvi had approved Justice Sardar Tariq Masood’s appointment as Acting Chief Justice the day before the ceremony.
The current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Qazi Faiz, is on a winter vacation abroad, and Justice Masood is set to fulfill the duties of Acting Chief Justice for the next two weeks.
