KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that Karachi is expected to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday. The weather is likely to remain partly cloudy and humid for the next 24 hours.
The weather department reported that the morning’s lowest temperature was 27°C, and they expect it to rise to between 32°C and 34°C during the day. The weather in Karachi has seen a decrease in the intensity of monsoon winds, reducing the chances of rain in the city.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz mentioned that while the likelihood of rain in Karachi is low, there might still be some rainfall in areas on the outskirts, such as the Superhighway and Gadap Town. Karachi recently experienced heavy rains due to the cyclonic storm ‘Asna,’ which has now dissipated. The torrential rains have caused damage to roads, making commuting difficult.
After restrictions were lifted due to the storm, fishermen in Sindh and balochistan were allowed to resume their activities starting September 1 and 2, respectively. Meanwhile, heavy rains have significantly impacted Tharparkar, Mithi, Islamkot, and nearby regions in Sindh, with Mithi receiving 80mm of rain in 24 hours, which has benefited local crops.
The Met Office also mentioned that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea were affecting southern and eastern parts of the country, with more rain expected in various regions, including Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and other northern areas.
