KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies in Karachi have successfully foiled a major terror plot, seizing over 2,000 kilograms of ready-to-use explosives and arresting three terrorists in a swift operation.

Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Lark and DIG CTD Ghulam Azfar Mahesar held a press briefing in Karachi, revealing that security forces conducted a raid in Baldia Rais Goth, recovering more than 2,000kg of explosives and arresting one terrorist on the spot. Subsequent raids, guided by the initial suspect’s information, led to the arrest of two more terrorists at six different locations across the city.

According to DIG Mahesar, preliminary investigations indicate that the explosives were smuggled from Afghanistan through Balochistan into Karachi. The terrorists had rented a house located 35 to 40 kilometers from central Karachi to store the material.

During the operation, authorities recovered over 30 plastic drums containing commercial explosives and mixed explosive materials, as well as five metal gas cylinders. The materials were reportedly ready for use.

The operation has been linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Authorities say the plan was orchestrated abroad, and the facilitators and handlers have been identified. Further raids are underway to apprehend additional suspects.

The CTD officials added that the operation was carried out at night, and more details will be released after verification from experts and multiple agencies.
