Lahore:
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday said that a modern stadium, superior to Lahore’s existing facilities, will be developed in Karachi, while upgrades to the National Stadium will begin after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Speaking to the media, Mr Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s stance on cricket-related matters involving India, stating that Islamabad would continue to engage strictly on the basis of parity and reciprocity.
He announced that plans were underway to construct an improved stadium in Karachi and to organise cricket tournaments in Hyderabad as well. “Once proper grounds are developed, the people of Karachi will return to stadiums,” he said, adding that inter-school tournaments were being launched to identify and nurture emerging talent.
The PCB chairman confirmed that upgradation work at Karachi’s National Stadium would commence after the PSL, as part of broader infrastructure development efforts.
Mr Naqvi also expressed optimism about Pakistan securing the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s World Cup, saying the board was making concerted efforts to bring the global event to the country.
