BANNU: One more polio case was confirmed in Bannu on Friday, increasing the cases to two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2019.
The first of the 2019 was reported from Bajaur tribal district few days ago.
Focal Person to Prime Minister on Polio Eradication Babar Atta confirmed that second polio case of 2019 was confirmed in Bannu. He tweeted that the child is two years old. Bannu is one of many districts with clusters of “Parental Refusals”. Bannu has also been reporting presence of virus in the sewage.
He said that according to initial investigations the parents of the child had refused to administered polio drops to their child. He said, ”very unfortunate as yet another child falls prey to parents refusing vaccine. Refusing parents will have to realise that this vaccine has eradicated polio from rest of the world & will also work here.”
